It's not "evil". It's just the way some beings are. Some human beings are born with little to no empathy, they feel no remorse or guilt. They could bomb a town full of innocent people if that would give them more power and status, they would rape and steal if there were no consequences... It's absurd we must share the world with them but... That's why what Demon said is actually true. Religion could potentially help us with psychopaths. Unsurprisingly psychopaths have a tendency to occupy positions of power over other humans and clergy is among the top 10 "jobs" that attract psychopaths. It's ironic how the same "job" is prefered by people with a lot of empathy wanting to help others and people of the completely opposite pole, surgeon being another such case. Existence is crazy

now thats some absurd cope, if you think people dont deliberately choose to be evil and you whittle it down to mere mental illness then youre the psychopath

There aren't many good duos when paired with discussing theology

"now thats some absurd cope, if you think people dont deliberately choose to be evil and you whittle it down to mere mental illness then youre the psychopath"
Smok I don't believe in "evil", sorry. I just think sometimes people do stuff they regret later for some human traits like empathy and consciousness. Also it's been shown that certain TV shows, movies, videogames, medication... reduce empathy with prolonged use because the brain is progressively desensitized, we become indolent... I would actually argue that our society is being deliberately "psychopatized" by predative capitalism but that is a long topic to discuss here. And then there are people born psychopaths or with very little empathy... It's not a mental illness, it's a personality trait. I'd recommend Robert D. Hare writings on the topic to comprehend what I'm trying to say. If you ever met one of these folks you should know what I'm talking about. Again, it's atrocious from my point of view, and I may share that subjective vision with you, but objectively there are people out there like that. It's got nothing to do with evil. Evil is a human denomination for certain behaviours, and it has changed over time. Some behaviours that were considered evil are now tagged differently.

Ok, smok, nobody forces anyone to check my recs, but let me say they are not books about "pseudo intellectual mysticism".
Bart D. Ehrman is a New Testament scholar. Being raised in the Episcopal church he became a born-again evangelical in his teen years. He later earned an MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1981 and a PhD in 1985, where he studied textual criticism of the Bible. He has dedicated all his life basically to studying the Bible from many different points of view and in the end, after extensive research, he became an agnostic/atheist after struggling with the philosophical problems of evil and suffering.
Robert D. Hare on the other hand is a Canadian forensic psychologist, known for his research in the field of criminal psychology. He is a professor emeritus of the University of British Columbia where he specializes in psychopathology and psychophysiology. He is a pioneer in the field and developed diagnosis tools like The Hare Psychopathy Checklist, which is sometimes used as a standard instrument for researchers and clinicians, especially in forensic settings such as prisons or high secure psychiatric units.
So there is no mysticism here, just people who dedicated their lives to study their fields of expertise
