Was lurking around some metal, crapcore and hip hop releases. DGD came up. I'm glad I didn't even waste my time checking this album... They really let the rapist back in the band after also crapping the worst albums in their discography back to back... Wild.

Also, not the first time Rise still gives a platform to deranged fucks. Seems like everyone forgot about Austin Carlile. Man literally moved to Costa Rica for a while and got into christianity to avoid the backlash hahaha.

It's a tricky one with the allegations and situations hovering around with Tilian to even admit you're interested in this band at the moment. But, those things aside (not lightly), and coming at it from a purely musical perspective - this for me is the most consistent album they've put out since IG. There are a lot of tracks on here that I just can't stop listening to even though I should probably feel dirty for doing so (I don't but i'm acknowledging that I maybe should). Long Nights In Jail, Cream of the Crop, Current Events, Ember - easily make it into some of my favourites from this band.

Hey man, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally loved Mothership, it had like 5 strong songs in a row and that pretty much eclipses any other Tilian album by far. Still my favorite DGD is Kurt era. Happiness is so fucking good.

I come to this review sometimes to remind myself how bad Sput has been for the last half decade

“it's cool seeing that bands that were their mainstays like Hail The Sun aren't there. fucking Dwellings makes me sad though, they're new album is about to pop off. Periphery sucks to see too. Stolas doesn't surprise me but fuck, in another timeline would love to see that reunion but no way i'm going to this shit”

Same but I can forgive dwellings for going to this cause I honestly haven’t seen them tour outside of our local area. I think they really need this gig. Also, they’re signed to tragic hero records… maybe the label even had them do it anyways. The reality is that we know nothing about them compared to others in the swancore scene so i think it’s a bit unfair to place judgement no?

i think they will be dropping new music right before or after swanfest, no? definitely a great way to get hype behind your album. one things is for sure, dgd fans are rabid for bands in the same sphere so just having their name on the bill alone will drive a lot of people to their stuff. business is business.

i saw the bill for this and 5 years ago i'd have totally gone - now, def not.

JFC Matt has already finished tracking drums for their next full length per his most recent IG post. This is honestly a huge reason as to why I fell out of love with DGD long before the Tilian shit rose to the surface. The rate in which they put out new music is extremely overbearing and contributes to serious burnout. Will can only write so many "new" noodly riffs and Mess' lyrical schtick just feels like self-parody at this point. 5-6 records in just 8 years (excluding non-album singles) is ridiculous.

To be fair, Tillian still denies the allegations and legally speaking there hasn't been any advancement or sufficient evidence to proceed with the accusations (as far as I know of). Given how strict US government follows those type of cases, I would imagine there isn't any reason to doubt Tillian so far.

With that said, I can't stand this guy's voice. I haven't bothered to listen to any of their albums after Acceptance Speech, except maybe Mothership but I didn't finish it. So because of this I would be totally okay if they get rid of Tillian for someone else, lol. Maybe bringing Kurt back would make me regain interest in the band because Happiness and self-titled were great albums (though not my favorite).

"To be fair, Tillian still denies the allegations and legally speaking there hasn't been any advancement or sufficient evidence to proceed with the accusations (as far as I know of)."

If I'm not mistaken, he denied the allegation brought forth by a woman who has tried to cancel other bands for similar reasons after she hooked up with the lead singer (that's the one the band issued a cease and desist against) but he still acknowledged that he "misunderstood" the other sexual encounter he had with a fan where consent got thrown out the window and he made her extremely uncomfortable. Happiness is still to this day their best album and Kurt-era will always be their best; him also not being a fucking creep also helps the enjoyment factor in going back to those records, lol.

I think this is the best tillian era dgd album. It's a inconsistent and way too long but the bangers on here are the best things they've done with him imo

Gotcha.

And yeah, Kurt seems like decent guy. His solo stuff proofs he has good taste also.

also what? cases like this get swept under the rug all the time. hate using this example but look into any allegations made in the smash bros community in 2020, none of those people saw any court time lmao
