Gene - the rater of either 3.0 or 4.0,

Gorillaz Cracker Island
Congrats, MFs. Yall complained about the previous album having too many features so much that Gorillaz ended up making an album that desperately needs more features and other creative input to take awaz from Albarn's ridiculous non-presence and bizarre choices (wtf even is "Skinny Ape"?).

Deltron 3030 Deltron 3030
Yeah, afrofuturistic hip-hopera is probably as accurate a description as it gets.

Brigitte Fontaine and Areski Belkacem Vous et nous
A lot of abstract world influences, a lot of bizarre acoustic wizardry, and all that with a healthy dose of proto-folktronica with socio-feminist themes and a lot of wonky weird musical twists.

Lord Dying Clandestine Transcendence
What I definitely did not expect was for this run-of-the-mill stoner doom band that has not yet learnt the art of trimming their albums to manageable length would deliver so many consistent bangers. Again, at least a few songs could have been cut to bring the album down to a finer runtime, but I still did not expect to hear so many back-to-back great tracks.

Aladdin! Boilermaker
Eased out UK-style deep house (from France tho) that is quick and easy to like. Would go hard at a dayparty by the beach.

Adorno Discography
If you already do or do not like Adorno's two albums, you will like or not like this. It's those two, but the tracklist is mixed up and it sounds a little bit remastered. It is also the only version you'll find on streaming platforms (other than Bandcamp). For as generally okay-to-lukewarm as I am on Adorno's music, I must admit that hearing these songs suddenly rearranged and not skip a beat on flow was quite a pleasant surprise. Like album one to two, it also loses steam in the second half when 'Year Two' starts playing, but the messing with the structure was a nice treat to those curious about their music wishing for a little freshness.

Adorno Year Two
By their second album, the energy dims down a little and the issues of their first album start to track through every song, ie. poor vocals and issues of timing their tempo.

  • FurtherDown Yeah definitely, her new album is perfect. Together with Katarína Máliková, whose two folk/artsy/electronic records are exeptional and I can't wait for what more will she bring.

  • Sunnyvale All good! In that case, if I get the spirit I'll write something up for it, we shall see.

  • Sunnyvale Hey there! Any interest in writing something up for the new Villagers? I've been toying with it but I've got multiple other potential reviews in the works, so if your high score means you've got something to say about it, would love to read your words. Let me know!

  • FurtherDown Yeah could be. I just listened to Ida's new single and it brings quite interesting electronic twist to the table. Great track!
