5.0 classic | Klekticist | February 26th 10 | Giving this piece any other rating simply wouldn't do it justice. This piece changed music. It's undeniable. I'd write a paragraph yammering about how amazing this piece is, but one listen is proof enough.

5.0 classic | SandwichBubble | May 7th 16 | 'Cause why the fuck not, right? Never got into classical myself (since it's such a daunting genre), but damn it all if this isn't just fantastic. On a side note, I finally know where 'Ode to Joy' is from.

5.0 classic | ghostface30612 | July 6th 07 | This, the last of Beethoven's completed symphonies, was composed while Beethoven was deaf. This is no easy task in itself, but when you consider the images and emotions created by this music, hopefully you'll then start to consider Beethoven as one of the greatest musical minds of our history.
A sort of concept piece, Symphony No. 9 represents the struggles and conflicts found in our world and ultimately a triumph of peace and joy. While the German lyrics sung by the choir in the fourth and most famous movement aren't exactly "Joyful, joyful, we adore thee...", they are not only an adaption of Friedrich Schiller's poem about a call to embrace those around you in happiness but one of the first times in composed music where a choir's sung parts were just as powerful, important, and loud as the orchestra (a trend most commonly found in movie soundtracks today).
Although, it was met with mixed criticism when it debuted in 1824, it is now heralded as one of the greatest human accomplishments, the official anthem of the European Union, and can be recognized after only the playing of four notes (F# F# G A...).

5.0 classic | EcoChocolatacchi | June 3rd 16 | Stupid rich asshole makes all this money, doesn't go on tour at all, and then claims he did it all while deaf. Bitch you'd be deaf just hearing how much your fans hate your greedy ways. I bet all this compilation albums you sign your name on will continue, you'll die, and no one will notice at all. The fuck man.

4.5 superb | Zilla2112 | July 19th 12 | Beethoven's 9th Symphony is often considered to be the greatest piece of music ever written, and it's probably true. Everything from the opening notes of the first movement to the glorious "Ode to Joy" section is brilliant.

0.0 | TRMshadow | November 3rd 10 | Kind of what I expect, but not exactly what I want. As most people know, Beethoven was deaf when he wrote this. That inability to hear forced Beethoven to resort to the mathematical and mechanical concepts that go on in the composition of a score. It a way this is brilliant, but at the same time I want a deeper experience when listening (to classical at least). I prefer the seasonal undertones and natural influences that seem to permeate the genre and I just hear a lot less in this than I hear in many contemporary works. Overall it works well as a mechanical masterpiece, but it just doesn't work well in invoking those deep emotions I expect when listening other works. So, I'll give it the highest 3.5 rating possible. 3.749/5

4.0 excellent | charlopiano | May 3rd 22 | Ode to Joy is kinda the song you hear the most in a musical training sort of environment and I love it of course, but sorta sick of it?

4.0 excellent | BillyBrill | February 21st 22 | Am I stupid. Genuine question am I stupid for not liking this as much as Rachmaninov, or even as much as his other work. I do not feel the intense joy or immense conflict this is so heavily praised for.

3.5 great | GamamJ | September 26th 20 | A symphony with limitless audacity, especially for its time. Beethoven basically decided to take everything at his disposal to make the most expressive and musically spread out in terms of frequencies piece in existence. The result? A success!
