| Marilyn Manson ranked! | 11 | | Marilyn Manson Born Villain
Fucking hate this album. Overneath The Path of Misery bangs, as well as a few of the later tracks, but this sounds like shit, the vocal melodies are obnoxiously lazy and Manson’s crooning is horrendous. | 10 | | Marilyn Manson The Golden Age of Grotesque
Have never been a fan of this, outside of 1 or 2 songs. Big fall off from the first 4 albums | 9 | | Marilyn Manson Eat Me, Drink Me
Kind of underrated, but also kind of boring and doesn’t justify the runtime | 8 | | Marilyn Manson We Are Chaos
Hasn’t held up as well as i thought it would, but still solid. More forward thinking like Pale Emperor, but is held back by some of the heavier tracks, which makes the tracklist feel uneven. Love the short length here, an easy listen. | 7 | | Marilyn Manson Heaven Upside Down
Kind of love this, i think some songs fall flat, and it feels unfocused, and maybe too independent on past ideas. He captures the Antichrist sound really well on some tracks, Say10 and WKWYFL, but other tracks like Revolution 12 feel really strained and cheesy, and at odds with the incredible, dark, mature sound of later tracks. Wish this had more stuff like Blood Honey. | 6 | | Marilyn Manson Portrait of an American Family
The epitome of fun. It’s like if Marilyn Manson recorded their version of Alice In Chain’s Dirt (Cyclops is basically Sickman) it’s spooky, corny, catchy, and the gritty, grungey sound fits the band really well here. | 5 | | Marilyn Manson The High End of Low
Honestly so underrated. I think WOW is my least favorite Manson track, but this album boasts some great melodies and a lot of variety. Manson sounds great here, calling back to early records and focusing on some introspective, moody stuff as well. Adore this album | 4 | | Marilyn Manson Mechanical Animals
Love the crisp, futuristic textures and more mature songwriting on this, though most days i prefer The Pale Emperor in that regard. | 3 | | Marilyn Manson Holy Wood
This and Mechanical Animals fight for supremacy a lot, but i think this is a great middle ground for the triptych | 2 | | Marilyn Manson The Pale Emperor
This has aged brilliantly. His most mature LP, and the one that best fits his recent vocal tone. It’s aged, raw, and feels personal and reflective. One of the best rock albums in awhile. | 1 | | Marilyn Manson Antichrist Superstar
I flip flop between the triptych albums for my #1, but i think this one is the best. The production on this is utterly immaculate, my favorite album production-wise. Manson’s vocals on this are fucking insane, and i miss his low, gravelly scream of the first 2 records. This album is so varied and engaging front to back. It’s creepy, catchy, heavy, and generally disgusting and bold. Phenomenal album. | |

06.04.24 | Manson being skinny and looking like himself for the first time since Holy Wood came out, and teasing new music has me on a big MM kick at the moment. With all of the shit going on, this is his chance to come back in a big way, and there’s 0 room for him to release a mid album. If he does, i’ll be actually pissed. He’s either going to drop his best since Holy Wood, or a massive disappointment | DarkSideOfLucca
06.04.24 | 1 is def 1
I love to see Pale Emperor so high, although I would personally never rate it above Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood.
10 is surprising though, I love that album - that'd be near the top half for me
5, 7, 8, 9 and 11 I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing again which upsets me because he had such a huge impact on me as a kid, I always listen to his albums in full the first day it drops | Brabiz
06.04.24 | I think Pale Emperor deserves it. Listened again today, and the production is perfect. There isn’t a single skip on that album. Manson doesn’t fall back on any of his overused vocal melodies (an issue i have with a lot of his music past GAOG)
I think the tracklist gets better as it goes, too. The last half is incredible. | DarkSideOfLucca
06.04.24 | Agree, Pale Emperor is fucking fire and I never skip any tracks either.
Also agreed - his next album is either going to be a monumental moment in his career, or it will be a complete letdown | Brabiz
06.04.24 | He hasn’t had an actual purpose as an artist in awhile it feels like, and i think that’s why Pale Emperor works so well. Him having all of this shit come out, and being brutally shut down is the only thing that could lead to him having the fire to capture his golden era again. If he plays it safe with this new album, he’s honestly a fucking idiot.
Plus, the Holy Wood-isms in that teaser he dropped have me drooling | Brabiz
06.04.24 | Plus Tyler Bates is back, hell yeah. | KevinKC
06.04.24 | Marilyn Manson has a great discography. | Flugmorph
06.04.24 | Pale Emperor was always great | mkmusic1995
06.05.24 | From what I've heard, Mechanical Animals is my favorite. | Brabiz
06.05.24 | Last time i ranked this stuff, i had Mechanical Animals as 1, so understandable |
